Neos Marmaras is the largest seaside village – town on the second peninsula of Halkidiki, Sithonia.
It is the most cosmopolitan place in Sithonia. Every year thousands of tourists visit it and enjoy the superb beaches, beautiful landscapes, nature in the surrounding mountains, and nightlife. In the narrow streets of Marmaras, many people make romantic walks on its amphitheatrical streets overlooking the island of Kelyfos, the first peninsula (Kassandra) and the mountain of Gods, Mount Olympus.
THE BEAUTIFUL NEOS MARMARAS
It is approximately 120 km from Thessaloniki and has 3500 permanent residents, who are mainly engaged in tourism, fishing and apiculture. In Neos Marmaras you will find post office, banks, private clinics, public regional clinics, pharmacies, port authorities, fire department and other services. In the shopping center of Neos Marmaras there are many shops such as Super Markets, fish shops, fur shops, shops with souvenirs, etc. where you can get what you need. During the summer months the navigable harbor of Neos Marmaras is put into operation and serves the needs of many ships and boats. Also, from Neos Marmaras start boats for daily cruises to Kassandra and Toroneos gulf. The region is visited by many nature lovers, as the flora in Itamos or else to the locals Dragountelis, the mountain above Marmaras, is rich and rare. You may encounter deers, foxes, wild boars and other animal species.
BEACHES
Within walking distance of Neos Marmaras there are other beaches worth visiting, starting from the lively Ai-Giannis Beach with the well-known beach bars. Within a few kilometers you will find the unique beach of Spathies, Akti Koviou and Akti Kalogria, Lagomandra, Elia Beach, Paradisos and Tristinika. To reach these beaches from Neos Marmaras you will need a car or motorbike. If you are a pedestrian, then the beach in the southern part of Neos Marmaras within the village is an excellent choice that will be unforgettable with many beach bars and crystal-clear waters.
THE MOUNTAIN
On the mountain above Neos Marmaras, 5 km away is the traditional Parthenonas settlement at an altitude of 350 meters. It is a historic village with stone houses and paved alleys with great view. In Parthenonas village you can visit the church of St. Stefan built in 1837 and the folklore museum. We would suggest that you spend an afternoon to visit the village, taste the traditional gastronomic specialties and admire the sunset.
